Free Solstice & Equinox Celebrations

This is the solstice,
the still point of the sun,
its cusp and midnight,
the year’s threshold and unlocking,
where the past lets go of
and becomes the future;
the place of caught breath.

Autumn Equinox Gathering - Giving Thanks and Preparing for Stillness

The Fall Equinox marks a quiet turning point in the year—a time when the days and nights are once again in balance, inviting us to pause before the slower months ahead.

In this two-hour online gathering, we will take time to reflect on the year so far: what has nourished us, what has challenged us, and what continues to ask for our attention. Through guided imagery, reflection, and a simple creative activity, we will sort our experiences into what can be celebrated, what may be ready to let go, and what we are invited to continue tending to with patience and compassion.

Rather than seeking quick answers, this gathering offers a thoughtful space to acknowledge where you are, express gratitude for the journey so far, and step into the quieter season with greater clarity and intention.

Winter Solstice Gathering - Moving From Darkness Into Light

In December, the Earth moves toward the shortest day of the year in the northern hemisphere, only to then – after a short moment of seeming stillness – turn itself back to the light. The Winter Solstice has been celebrated by humankind for eons as the moment the light returns to the world.

In this two-hour gathering, we will create time for stillness, contemplation and exploration of our inner peace and faith. A moment in time to be still and listen as the world takes a breath.

Stepping away from the busyness of holidays and year-end preparation, this gathering invites you to step into your inner landscape and find that which wants to be carried forward into the world in a new and life-enhancing way as the days grow longer again.

Spring Equinox Gathering - Breathing Out and Planning Ahead

The Spring Equinox marks a bright turning point in the year—a time when the days and nights are once again in balance, inviting us to exhale after the dark of the winter months and look ahead to the months ahead.

In this two-hour online gathering, we will take time to celebrate the renewal of energy and look ahead to the year to come: what did we bring with us out of our winter contemplations, what draws us, and what requires our attention. Through guided imagery, reflection, and a simple creative activity, we will integrate what we bring forward with what we want to grow.

Rather than seeking quick answers, this gathering offers a creative space to acknowledge where you are, explore what speaks to you from the future, and step into the busier season with clarity and balance.

Summer Solstice Gathering - Celebrating Light and Life

The summer solstice marks the longest day of the year—a moment when nature stands in its fullest expression of growth, light, and abundance. It celebrates fullness—long days, vibrant growth, and the richness of life in all its diversity.

Yet, it is also an invitation to pause. It is a time to notice what has blossomed, what is flourishing, and what quietly asks for our attention before the year begins its gradual turn toward autumn.

In this two-hour gathering, we will take time to celebrate the fullness of life and acknowledge the enriching energies and hopes within us. Together, we will focus on all that is alive in us and in the world and life around us, exploring how this energy can be harnessed to move us toward the life we want to build.

Who This Gathering Is For

This gathering may be a good fit if you:

  • appreciate taking time to pause and reflect at meaningful points throughout the year
  • are looking for an opportunity to explore and tap into your inert energy for life
  • would like to develop a creative plan for your next endeavour
  • are looking for a thoughtful and creative, guided experience
  • enjoy exploring through reflection, journaling, or simple creative activities
  • are interested in living more intentionally and in harmony with the natural rhythm of the seasons

No previous creative or meditation experience is needed.

What to Expect in These Events

Each celebration has its own seasonal theme while following a similar rhythm. Together we will explore the qualities of the season through guided reflection, conversation, mindfulness, and a simple creative or contemplative activity. There is no pressure to share, and no artistic experience is needed. These gatherings are intended to be welcoming, restorative, and gently thought-provoking rather than intensive.

What These Events Are Not

These celebrations are not psychotherapy groups or educational workshops. Rather, they offer a reflective space to pause, reconnect with yourself, and engage thoughtfully with the changing seasons. While participants may find the experience personally meaningful, the emphasis is on contemplation and self-reflection rather than on an in-depth therapeutic process.

FAQs

Questions? Here are some answers to common questions, but feel free to email me if you want to know more. I’d love to hear from you.

Do I have to attend all four gatherings?

No. Each gathering is a complete experience and can be attended independently. Some people may enjoy returning throughout the year, but there is no expectation or commitment to attend every gathering.

Is there a fee for these gatherings?

No, these events are free of charge. I do require pre-registration, though, so please sign up if you want to join.

Do I need to have attended one of the Seasons of Reflection groups to join a gathering?

Not at all. The gatherings are open to everyone and can be enjoyed on their own. They also complement the longer seasonal therapy groups for those who wish to continue reflecting throughout the year.

What do I need for the gathering? Can I attend, even if I'm not creative?

All you need is a quiet space, a notebook or journal, and a few simple art materials such as paper and coloured pencils or markers, although the latter are not essential. The creative activities are offered simply as another way of reflecting. They are always optional, and no artistic experience is required.

Is this therapy. covered by extended health insurance? Will I have to participate or share?

No. These gatherings are intended as reflective and contemplative experiences rather than psychotherapy services.

While participation is always invited, it is not required. You are welcome to contribute to the discussion, simply listen, or spend time reflecting quietly. Everyone is encouraged to engage in the way that feels most comfortable.
