Seasonal Therapeutic Groups

Birds sing after a storm;

why shouldn’t people feel as free

to delight in whatever remains to them?

Autumn – Harvest & Letting Go

Autumn invites us to pause and take stock. As nature turns inward, we too are given an opportunity to reflect on what we have gathered, what has changed, and what we are ready to release.

This 8-week reflective therapy group is an invitation to explore your own inner landscape through the wisdom of the season. Together, we will explore life patterns, personal transitions, loss and grief, and the process of letting go — while making space for greater clarity, meaning, and intentional choice.

Through guided reflection, creative exploration, mindfulness, and gentle experiential practices, this group offers a supportive space to:

  • Reflect on the experiences, relationships, and lessons you have gathered along your life journey
  • Recognize patterns and explore what continues to serve you — and what may be ready to change
  • Work with grief, loss, and life transitions with compassion and awareness
  • Reconnect with your deeper sense of Self beyond roles, expectations, and circumstances
  • Clarify what you want to carry forward into the next season of your life

Like the trees releasing what they no longer need, we can learn to trust the natural rhythms of change — allowing space for both endings and new beginnings.

This small group combines the depth of psychotherapy with reflective and creative practices, offering a meaningful opportunity to slow down, listen inwardly, and engage with the transitions that shape our lives.

Winter - From Darkness To Light (A Journal Experience)

In the Northern Hemisphere, December holds the longest night of the year, a time which traditionally was used for deeper contemplation and rest. In our modern times, this time of year often carries more hustle and bustle and stress than any other. And yet, the long nights still offer the opportunity for introspection and an exploration of what it is we want to build in the coming year.

This Journalling Experience offers you an opportunity to do this exploration in your own time and space. Between December 7th and January 4th, I will send you daily journal prompts and quotes to help you focus on your inner search for light and joy during this darkest time of the year.

What you will get:

Daily journal prompts to your email inbox from Dec. 7th to January 4th. These pages will arrive in PDF format and can either be filled in online or printed out. And of course, you can also use the quotes and prompts in your own journal.

Your Investment:

$100 incl. HST

Your Time Commitment:

Journaling time can vary widely from person to person and from day to day, but you may want to put 30 minutes a day aside to sit with the quotes, your thoughts and your journal.

Summer – Abundance & Living Fully (A Journaling Experience)

Summer invites us out into the world.

Long days, warm evenings, birdsong, gardens in bloom, time by the water, conversations around campfires—summer reminds us to lift our eyes from our daily routines and rediscover the richness of the world around us. It is a season of growth, exploration, creativity, and abundance. Nature is fully alive, and in many ways, we are invited to become more fully alive with it.

Yet the fullness of summer can also pass us by. Between vacations, family gatherings, and the busyness that often accompanies these months, we may find ourselves moving through the season without truly noticing it.

This summer journaling series is an invitation to slow down just enough to pay attention.

Throughout July and August, we will explore the season together through simple observations, reflective journal prompts, creative invitations, and gentle contemplations inspired by nature and everyday life. Rather than adding another task to your week, these prompts are intended to help you experience the season more consciously—to notice what is growing both around you and within you. And they offer an opportunity to share these experiences with those around you.

Sometimes a single thoughtful question, a quiet observation, or a small creative exercise can change the way we experience an ordinary summer day.

What you will receive

Each week during July and August, you will receive:

  • One reflective journal prompt to encourage personal exploration.
  • One simple experiential activity, such as a nature observation, creative exercise, mindfulness practice, or contemplative walk.
  • A short reflection or seasonal contemplation to accompany the week’s theme.

Your Investment:

$100 incl. HST

Your Time Commitment:

Each email is designed to be completed at your own pace and in your own way. Whether you spend five minutes with the prompt or an afternoon immersed in it, the invitation remains the same: to slow down, pay attention, and allow the season to become part of your own unfolding story.

Summer Day Retreat – Nature's Resonance

A day of reflection, creativity, and sharing in nature.

Lose yourself in the beauty of the season—and perhaps rediscover yourself through it.

Summer calls us out into the world. Long days, time at the beach or the cottage, outdoor games and home renovations. Summer is a season of activity and busyness.

In the midst of all this activity, we rarely give ourselves permission to step away from our responsibilities, slow our pace, and simply notice where we are in our own lives. Yet summer is also an invitation to relax and renew. Nature reminds us that growth is not something we force. It unfolds through rhythms of activity and rest, expression and reflection.

This retreat offers a day to step out of everyday life and into those rhythms. Rather than rushing through the season, we take time to inhabit it. Together, we will spend time walking, creating, reflecting, and sharing, allowing the natural world to become both our setting and our teacher.

What the Day Will Include:

Throughout the day, we will alternate between individual reflection, shared experiences, and quiet time in nature.

The retreat includes:

  • guided mindfulness and contemplative walks
  • reflective journaling and personal exploration
  • simple creative activities inspired by the natural world
  • opportunities for individual quiet time
  • small-group conversations and sharing
  • seasonal contemplations and gentle closing ritual
  • a delicious vegetarian lunch

The day unfolds gently and spaciously. Participation is always by invitation rather than expectation, and there is room to simply be.

Who This Day May Be For:

This retreat may be for you if you are longing to…

  • slow down and reconnect with yourself
  • spend meaningful time in nature
  • reflect on where you are in your life
  • nourish your creativity
  • meet others in thoughtful conversation
  • mark the changing seasons in a more intentional way

No previous experience with meditation, creative work, or personal development is necessary.

What to Expect in These Groups

Each session combines thoughtful conversation, guided reflection, experiential exercises, and creative exploration. Some weeks include mindfulness or gentle movement; others invite journaling, artwork, or contemplative practices. No artistic experience is needed—these activities are simply different ways of exploring your inner experience.

What These Groups Are Not

These are not psychoeducational courses or skills-training programs. While the groups are grounded in psychotherapy, they are also reflective, experiential, and creative. The emphasis is on understanding yourself more deeply, rather than learning techniques or receiving advice.

FAQs

Questions? Here are some answers to common questions, but feel free to email me if you want to know more. I’d love to hear from you.

Are theses therapy groups? Will I have to share in every meeting?

Yes, these are psychotherapy groups facilitated by a Registered Psychotherapist. However, while participation is encouraged, you are always free to decide when, how much, and what you would like to share. Sometimes, simply listening and reflecting can be just as valuable as speaking. My role is to create a safe and respectful environment where everyone can participate at their own pace.

I'm not really creative. Can I still benefit from these groups?

Absolutely. The creative and movement activities are offered as gentle ways of exploring your thoughts and experiences—they are not about artistic ability or physical performance. They are invitations rather than expectations, and you are always welcome to adapt an exercise or simply reflect in a way that feels more natural to you.

What if I realize the group isn't the right fit for me? Or what if I have to miss a session?

Life is sometimes unpredictable, and I understand that circumstances can change. If you decide to withdraw before the second session of the group begins, your registration fee will be refunded, less the non-refundable deposit. Once the second session has begun, I am no longer able to offer refunds, as your place has been reserved for the duration of the group.

If you need to miss an occasional session, you are welcome to return the following week. Because of the nature of the group process, individual make-up sessions are not available.

Is this covered by extended health insurance?

Because these are psychotherapy groups facilitated by a Registered Psychotherapist, they may be eligible for reimbursement through your extended health benefits. You will receive a receipt that includes the information typically required by insurance providers. As coverage varies between plans, I recommend checking with your insurance provider to confirm whether group psychotherapy services are included in your benefits.

Limited Spots Available.  Pre-registration is required.

The groups are intentionally small (max 8 participants) to ensure a personal, unhurried experience.
